Boo.

I am definitely not feeling good today. As much as I've been trying to avoid it, I think I may be getting a cold. And this weekend is supposed to be so pretty too! Boo..

I'm going to be spending the next few days drinking as much tea as possible and sleeping at every available moment. That usually helps me pull through faster than anything else. So hopefully it will work this time!

I had other things that I wanted to share, but right now my achy little head can't remember them. I hope that you all are having a better wednesday.

Spiff it up!

I have been spending a lot of time trying to find a good layout for my blog. I think it's just going to come down to making my own. I'm actually rather excited about it too! My husband does web design and computer stuff for a living, so he's always there to help me, though I am looking forward to learning how to do it all on my own. So for now, we will stick with the green, which is one of my favorite colors anyway, so that's just fine with me.

I've been really excited lately, watching the traffic here. I'm really glad that so many people are visiting! Its really neat to not only run this to vent my own thoughts, but to also entertain people! I mostly started my blog to keep ideas and creativity moving. When I have the opportunity to talk about things that I find neat or exciting, it keeps me really excited about them! And that's a really big help cause I'm usually so busy that things tend to stall out, no matter how excited I am about them in the beginning. I've found that this has actually really helped! Its helped too to read all of the other blogs out there! There are so many that I've come across over the last year, and they're all so inspiring! My second blog goal, right behind getting this layout thing done, is putting up buttons for all of the blogs that I follow. AND making some for here! So much to do!

The perfect Monday for a snuggle

It's very rainey and chilly in the old B-More today. Its VERY chilly in my office. However, I have this little habit of being rather disorganized, and just a little bit messy, which worked to my advantage as I managed to have both a sweater AND socks in my desk. So I'm pretty toasty now!

Tonight should be my last night of painting in the living room. The futon leaves tomorrow, so I'll have my spare room back! I would like to get ahold of a small tv and DVD player for it though. I like having certain movies playing as background. My favorite is The Fantastic Mr Fox. One of my favorite movies! Once the new Alice In Wnderland  hits DVD I'm positive that will be in rotation too. I saw it for the first time this weekend. I'm obsessed with all things Alice, to the point of having a full half sleeve tattoo styled after the engravings from the book. (I need to get some pictures going on this blog!) I was a little aprehensive of the movie, so I put it off, but I ended up really loving it. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter was what originally turned me off. I love him, but there was just way too much technicolor makeup going on! Once I saw him in context though, it was a whole lot better. I'm sure the more natural, subtle light helped a lot too. Those promo shots were just plain scary!

I'll work on getting some pictures into this puppy, but for now I'm going to finish chomping on my broccoli pizza, and go work on some sketch book drawings. Hope you had a wonderful weekend too!

Oh Friday

You always take so long in the afternoon. So long to hit that important time when I can go home.

This weekend is a little rainy and chilly it looks like, but I'm not too upset. I'm looking forward to a good excuse to stay in and watch movies and clean the house. I've really been wanting to start sewing some summer dresses too. I'm going thrifting tonight to find some fabric or old sheets to make spring dresses out of. I really want to try this pattern by Pink Hickey at Craftster.org. It's so pretty!! What a perfect little sundress.

I cut bangs back into my hair, which I'm really liking, but they're just a little bit too long. They keep poking me in the eyes. Boo! So I'm going to have to trim them up. Other wise though I like them a lot! I have also been liking Urban Decay's Primer Potion for eye makeup. I only say this because I just got my first bottle of it the other day, and I'm super impressed with how well it works! I have a lot of bright sparkly eye shadows that I absolutely love, but they crease up in about an hour. The bright blue I have on right now is about 7 hours old and still looks like I just did it.

Wow, this is becoming quite the little review post! I hope that all of your weekends are going well and that you're finding things to make you happy too! Oh! And I can type with my finger again, the one that I dropped the window on. (Oops!) That's very exciting, it's really hard to type without using your middle finger!

Ideas

Today has been full of sketching ideas and allergies. The ideas make up for the sniffling. I've added several hurried pen sketches into my notebook for everything from giant metal lawn snails to pretty spring dresses. I've had a serious sewing bug for a long time now, and have a bunch of fabric and patterns that I want to play with. Unfortunately our house is very tiny, and there is not currently room for my sewing table.

We used to have a room mate in our squishy little spare room. For the last two years though, it's just been us. That should have been a great little work area, but instead it just ended up filled with junk. I've been on a huge roll lately with cleaning! I got a bunch of stuff out and to Goodwill and a bunch more stuff on ebay (And I still have a trashbag of stuff for there!). Hopefully that will bring in a few dollars. We're also giving our big old futon to a friend, which will really open things up. It domintates the space right now.

I'm really excited to start shopping for bookshelves and storage boxes and get all of my crafting stuff organized. As much as I hate cleaning, I love cleaning!  I think it's not so much the cleaning, as the building up motivation and starting that I hate.

Here's hoping that it all goes smoothly!

Morning Rides

Have you ever turned on your car radio, only remember too late that the volume is SO HIGH that it shakes the car, and you jump out of your skin with your heart racing?

It's like a little roller coaster thrill to start the morning.

I think its rather fun.

Always eventful

This weekend was interesting to say the least. Spent time Friday taking care of old things that needed to be done. Saturday came around, and my desire to clean led me to open all of the windows. This is fine in a normal house, but ours has always been anything but. The big window in our kitchen doesn't stay up right, and when I openend it, I forgot, and when it fell I tried to catch it. Not the smartest thing.

So two hours later I was told that my finger was thankfully not broken, just very sore and bruised, which was good. Spent the rest of the day moving a futon out of the house (Which came back to us the next day due to unforseen events) and getting a milkshake with my sister. Sunday got me into cleaning again, starting a whirlwind of activity and ending in dismantling the bathtub faucet completely in an attempt to stop it from leaking.

I get to spend time with my uncle tonight and put in a whole new system, which will be nice. We wont have to turn off the water to the bathroom anymore! Yay!

It was, in all, a very beautiful and productive weekend, which will hopefully continue through the week. Starting after today. Today has been rainy and frustrating. But I'm not here to complain. No dwelling on that! We'll stick to positives around here.

Hope your weekend was just as nice! (And didn't land you in the hospital too!)

Freedom

Took off of work today to get some painting done. Midterms are coming up and I've been a little softer in my dicipline than I would like. I'm getting ready to start on a really fun portrait though, so that's a great motivator.

For this very minute though, I'm going to get some lunch, walk the dog, and go buy a new storage travel box for my paints. I've been keeping everything in a tote and my brushes are getting a little frizzy, then the other day I popped a hole in my pthalo blue. This just will not do. Time for something with more support!

I've been tracking this painting so far, I have pictures of the pencil sketches, so hopefully I can post some progress pictures by the end of the weekend.

It's that time

It's 62 degrees here today. Spring is coming! Time for new beginnings and such. How exciting!

It's strange to think that just a few weeks ago Baltimore was asleep under four feet of snow. Now the trees outside are starting to push out tiny, fuzzy little buds. I suppose that's what makes life here exciting though, you never know what you're going to end up with.
