Happy weekend!

I addition to my crazy schedule, today is my Dad's birthday (Happy birthday Dad!!) and tomorrow is my Mom's. (Happy birthday Mom!). So I will be extra busy.

To start your weekend off pretty (and apologize for being extra quiet), here's my favorite nebula (People have favorite nebulae right?) to keep you company

Hope your weekend is beautiful!

god I love funnel cake

I love Natalie Dee.

I also LOVE the state fair. (Cows! CHICKENS! I love chickens!)

So this cracked me up this morning

I can't wait for our fair to start!

Also, they hired my replacement! She starts Monday. Since I'm currently doing a lot of my blogging at work, it might be quiet around here next week and the week after. I'll try to post at night though. I'm just glad that I would have 60+ hour work weeks soon!  :D

Celebratory funnel cakes for everyone!

8 days a week

So the work schedule is still full tilt, minimum of 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. Money is good though. Really close to having my DSLR!!

Also, my sweet loving panda said that because I had been so good and working so hard, he thought I deserved a present. He bought me a Bamboo tablet for the computer! I'm so very excited. I've wanted one for a long time. :D

Tonight, in a rare moment of quiet, I did this little sketch. Its neat how much it really responds to you like a pencil.

Now I'm off to bed, and to put more red in my hair, and peel off the remainders of this sunburn. MMMmm, flaky skin.

While I am actually enjoying this two job thing, and the extra income that it brings, I can't wait to have free time again. I have been sitting at my desk all morning daydreaming up some amazing sewing and painting projects, and I'm so antsy to get started!

Unfortunately, that's not today. First job 8-5, second 6-3am. 18 hour week day, here I come! Hurrah!

Oh well. It's almost done. There was a third interview today. Hopefully one of them will work really well!

For now I'm going to go re-watch all of the Scott Pilgrim trailers. Again. <3

Happy Friday everyone!

A holy crap moment

I just wanted to share this with you because it BLEW MY MIND

Lightening in Athens, Greece as seen on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day

It's not the heat

Right now it should be a very pretty 88 degrees outside. The very pretty refers to what 88 degrees usually feels like. It is currently about 8,000% humidity though, so it feels like 98 degrees.

Today I am thankful for my freezing cold cubicle.

The weather around here has been really impressive lately though. Because it's been so hot and humid, there has been a TON of thunderstorms and heat lightening. (Adam keeps telling me that there's no such thing as heat lightening. I keep telling him to shut his mouth.) I LOVE lightening and thunderstorms.

The dog does not. AT ALL. In fact even the slightest rumble (Or firework, or fire cracker, or car door closing loudly) sends the dog into a fit of hysterics where I'm positive that one day she's going to shake so hard she explodes. I feel so bad for her.

Is she not the cutest thing? I find it hard to talk about her without posting pictures of her ridiculous cuteness.

I started this post with something to say but now I don't remember what it was. I'm sure it will come back to me. For now, here's another picture of heart melting adorableness.

On tolerance

I found this article recently on MookyChick, and thought I would share. There was a lot of intolerance in my life from a lot of different people (Myself included) on a lot of different subjects.

Everyone will encounter something in their lives that they don't understand, or find frightening, disturbing, angering, or some other negative emotion. They will do or say things that are intentionally or unintentionally hurtful to people that enjoy these things. This is just a fact of life. We don't mean it (Hopefully) but some day, somewhere, it will probably happen.

This article from mookychick is specifically geared towards J-rock. However it's got a lot of helpful advice for people dealing with "Strange hobbies" in general. And most of it is pretty common sense. We all know the golden rule. We should make great strides to apply it, especially at times when we just don't understand some people. Even if those people are furries.

Have fun with life. It takes all kinds of people. And those people you think are super weird and you just can't understand them? They probably think you're a little strange too.

(And don't worry, I'm not hatin on the furries. I've got them in my family, and I have a great deal of love.  <3)

Window shopping

As I've said before, I've had the shopping bug bad, but I've been making great efforts to spend as little money as possible. So here are my recent must haves (Ok, really wants.) from

Tell me this is not the sweetest dress ever. The ruffle down the front and black piping on the edges are subtle but add so much. And that color is perfect. This is a great dress for the office or a date. Sweet, yet flirty.

This is a great summer dress. The detailing on the hem and bust is so nice. It's a more sporty cut and fabric, which is made really feminine by little details like that. It would also be really cute for work or winter paired with a cardigan.

I love the simplicity of this dress. I don't typically for an empire waist with pleating, but I think it works really well in this piece. The sleeveless/turtleneck combo is also really versatile. It seems light enough for a cooler summer day, but would be very cute with a cardigan and tights in the winter.

I am a sucker for eyelets. And for gray. Both of those points stated, I love this dress. The embroidery at the top, and eyelet details are subtle but really feminine and fun. I love the scalloped cap sleeves too, it's an unexpected detail that adds a lot.

This is a little more formal than most of the other dresses, but tell me you wouldn't wear it every chance you got. Most definitely my favorite dress, I love everything from that adorable sweetheart halter top to the beautiful yellow and black patterning on the hem. This is a perfect dress. I might have to be saving up for this one, right after I finally get that DSLR.

Speaking of cardigans, I love them too. I have a pretty serious collection, and I'm always looking out for more. I would love to know where I can get this one, because I love it, but the site it's on shows it as out of stock, and I can't seem to find it anywhere else. Grr!

Well, it's probably for the best. It's all about saving money right now, right? The fewer temptations the better. :)

What are your thoughts? Have you had your eye on any dresses lately?

There's no place like home

I'm glad to be back. As much fun as vacation is, it's always nice to come home.

Plus the sofa bed that we were sleeping on was hell.

I'm remembering that the worst part of sunburn is not the burn but the horrible itch that then burns even worse. I'm glad it's not really bad, and it's already starting to clear up.

Vacation was really fun. I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I would, but that's ok. It was only about two and a half days. It was a lot of fun to spend time with my mom and stepdad and sister, and there was extended family there too that I got to see for a while. It was a pretty good vacation all in all. AND we spent under $100, which is another big bonus.

Tomorrow though it's back to the real world, so I should get to sleep.

Hope your weekend was great too!

Adam: holy shit! that kite is like 800 feet long!
me: the dragon?
Adam: thats not a dragon. that thing's the WORLD ENDER.

Edit: they pulled it down soon after this, and as it was laying on the sand Adam says "it looks ashamed now, like it's saying I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eat stars". Love.
Hunter S Thompson has been keeping me company this vacation. its been very nice. he's helping me work on my tan. I wish I could spend every friday like this.

So close, yet so far

I turned in my resignation letter yesterday. Super crazy mind exploding exciting.

I also told them I would stick around to train the new person.

What the F*CK was I thinking? For the love of god I'm going to chew my damn hand off if it means getting out of here. I hate spreadsheets. I HATE THEM. I also hate tapping. TAPPING MAKES ME WANT TO STAB BABIES. Yet the guy two seats down from me (Who will remain annonomous because he's an awesome guy but MY GOD THE TAPPING) Seems to just LOVE TO TAP.

I'm going to start clawing at my face by the end of the week.

Sorry, I feel that the content of this blog has slowly degenerated. I hope that you still enjoy it though! It occurred to me the other day, that while some of my favorite blogs are ones like A Beautiful Mess and The Dainty Squid, they're not the kind of blogs that I should write. Because they're not blogs by me. They're amazing and wonderful and a great source of inspiration, but I can't do blog posts showing awesome pictures of my awesome vintage collectibles or updates on my latest crafty beautifulness for sale in my store, because those things aren't a part of my life. My life is full of working and school and whining about things and in between all of that being rather ridiculously goofy.  I think that so far I've been really true to myself, but I have also censored myself a bit for fear that you're all going to say "That girl's just wacky" (a thing my mother says on a weekly basis) and leave. But from now on I'm going to be a little less censoring. (Except for the word f*ck. I'm going to try to not use that. Cause I use it a LOT. No promises though.)

And I'm ok with that.

I hope you are too!

I forgot where I was going with this. But oh well.

I've been doing more shopping than I should ever be allowed to do (Mostly more black stuff for work, and my new hat. NEW HAT! :D) so I have to limit myself now to purely window shopping. I have a ton of that to share. It will be up soon.

Happy Friday all!

woo! New favorite hat obtained!

Now if it would only go below a hundred degrees so I could wear it...

Good news everyone!

I don't have Lupus!

One disease to mark off the list

Edit: This is the second time I have used this title for a post. It's because whenever I say it I say it in Dr. Farnsworth voice from Futurama. And that cracks me up.

the one that got away?

I have one goal today. One, singular goal.

That is to make it to the mall on my lunch break and buy my perfect hat.

I went shopping with my sister this weekend. My new job has a dress code that specifies very little except that everything should be black (or jeans). I used to LIVE in black. It was the only color I wore. Even my jeans were black. But somehow a lot of that has wandered out of my wardrobe, and thus needed to be replaced.

While on this run for black, I came across the PERFECT kelly green knit slouchy hat. It was HUGE, which is good because I have a deceptively large head. It was my FAVORITE color. It was super cute on.

It was also $17. Being as how I had already spent about $40 (And am very poor), I just couldn't justify that.

However, I have since remembered that I have been looking for the perfect slouchy hat for literally about a year and a half.

$17 is reasonable to end that frustrating search.

Now I Just have to hope it's still there.

I do have things to say

as it stands though, I have been going through nearly violent bouts of twitchyness.

I'm currently sitting here shaking my whole desk because I'm bouncing my leg up and down so fast. I have a large number of doctor's appointments this week. I'm also planning on finally quitting my job. (Another reason I've been so quiet. I've been training at my new job after I leave  my old one). Doctors make me nervous. They take blood. I HATE IT when people take blood. I either cry or laugh hysterically. Like a mad man. It's rather frightening.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to the hubs online for a bit. This was my opening statement

me: i got to come home after the doctor
cause i did all my work early
and the doctor stole my bloods
and one of the bloods was to test for lupus
and i wanted to tell the nurse not to bother
  cause its never lupus
  everyone knows that
and now im a little woozy
the only cure that i can see
  that becomes apparent to me
  is sleeping
and lots and lots of cheese
the cheese will make me well
  i am teh hungree
  i didnt eat my sammach
  so its still at work
  waiting for me
  i will eat it tomorrow
  for now though

That is a usual sentence for me. I'm a little twitchy. and prone to rants. and changing the subject rapidly. I try to downplay that when talking to people I don't know (Or when blogging) but sometimes it leaks out.
Now, I'm going to go probably drink more coffee (I'm sure that will help) and maybe actually write my letter of resignation for my first job. That might be helpful. Instead of just disappearing one day.

Friday, July 2, 2010

So I got the job! That's the reason for the quiet this week. I've been leaving soon to be old job and heading down to new job for scheduling and paper retrieval and such. I also still have class until the 14th, so over all it's been a jam packed week! I'm so very excited though!

I go in tonight to start real, official training. I'm nervous, and a little sad, I will admit. I'm going to miss being home every night and weekend. BUT Adam and I have both been working really hard on furthering our educations and this will make it easier on both of us. (He doesn't study much when I'm home. I'm a bad influence.)

I'm also excited because I'll be at my old job still for a while, until I'm completely trained and they find someone to replace me and they're trained. So any money that I make at the new job won't HAVE to go towards bills. Instead, it's ALL going to go towards my camera! YAY! I already have about $500 saved up. So close! I'm almost to the body, then just a little more for the lens I want.

So much excitement! And it's a beautiful 78 degrees outside today! I think I'm just going to explode if I have to sit in this cube much longer!

Hope your week has been amazing too!

(Oh, and Hi to new followers! YAY!)
